AceShowbiz - John Stamos has opened up more about why his marriage to Rebecca Romijn has come to an end. When sharing his story, the "Big Shot" star claimed that he felt like his ex-wife "outgrew" him when they were together.
"I loved her and I thought she was super talented. So I was happy to do that," the 60-year-old actor said when making an appearance on "The Howard Stern Show". He added, "But I forgot about my own stuff. She was taking off and I just wasn't paying attention to mine. And it wasn't her fault."
Admitting that he felt "emasculated" in their marriage, John went on to share, "I mean, you know, you just get wrapped up in these things." He further stated, "I said 'You know what? I've had enough fame, I'm okay. Let's put the spotlight on her.' And I loved watching it. I think that she outgrew me."
John also acknowledged that he was giving everything in his life "50, 60 percent" of his effort. He explained, " 'Well, my 50% is better than you know 99% of the people out there... I don't have to give it all.' "
"I didn't work on anything. I didn't work as hard as I should at anything," the "Fuller House" alum continued. He then noted that his "career and my life would have been a lot better" had he shown more effort in his work and marriage.
John and Rebecca tied the knot back in 1998. The former couple separated in 2004 and finalized their divorce a year later. In 2018, John went on to marry Caitlin McHugh, with whom he shares 5-year-old son Billy. Meanwhile, the "Endangered Species" actress wed Jerry O'Connell in 2007. They have two children together.
