AceShowbiz - Susan Sullivan has won her battle against cancer. Shortly after revealing that she had a "successful" surgery following a lung cancer diagnosis, the actress portraying Martha Rodgers on "Castle" excitedly declared that she is now "cancer free."
The 80-year-old actress shared the happy news via X, formerly known as Twitter, on Wednesday, October 18. "Wanted to share with all those friends who have made this journey with me and thats you! I am cancer free!" she exclaimed.
In the same tweet, Susan did not forget to thank her loved ones for supporting her. "You can't do this one alone. Takes a family of friends and if you're really lucky a good man thank you, Connell!!! Love you," she stated, referring to her longtime partner and psychologist Connell Cowan. Along with the tweet, she uploaded a photo of a jaw-dropping beach view.
It did not take long for the social media post to be flooded with congratulatory messages. In the replies section of the tweet, one X user penned, "Very happy news to you and your family! Thank you for sharing your journey. You are a vibrant light of hope!!!" Another chimed in, "So happy to hear this wonderful news Susan. All love to you and your family," adding a slew of red heart emojis.
Similarly, a third wrote, "Wow. Did not know of your fight but so glad you won. All the best. Fan since Another World. Keep fighting. #Hofstra." A fourth stated, "Great news, Ms Sullivan. I'm a 2x survivor myself (breast and then melanoma), I appreciate your great news. #cancersurvivor."
Just one day prior, Susan spilled that she underwent a surgery after being diagnosed with lung cancer. On Tuesday, she tweeted, "Thanks for all the lovely comments and concerns. I had lung cancer. The surgery was successful. The healing process is a struggle, Thanks glad you're out there! #friends." She was reacting to comments from X users, who showed their support after she uploaded a photo of her being hospitalized.
In the snap released on Monday, the former "Falcon Crest" star could be seen wearing a blue hospital robe and yellow face mask while walking in a hospital room. Along with it, she stated, "Life's surprising little turns try to be ready for them with humor and hope. On we go."
