AceShowbiz - "The Drew Barrymore Show" returned for a fourth season on Monday, October 16. In the season premiere, host Drew Barrymore stayed mum about the WGA strike controversy surrounding the show in recent weeks.
In the new episode, the actress casually introduced Shania Twain, who served as the first guest in season 4, with no words about the backlash she previously faced for resuming filming amid the strike. "Alright everybody, welcome to season four. Let's go girls," Drew told the audience before going straight into her interview which took place at the singer's Vegas farm.
During the sit-down, the two ladies talked about Shania's love of horses and the power of equine therapy. They also discussed the guest's personal life as she opened up about parenting her siblings in her early 20s after both her parents died.
At one point, the "You're Still the One" hitmaker got candid about her fears regarding her music career following her 15-year hiatus related to a previously undiagnosed Lyme disease as well as her residency. The episode also saw the Grammy winner taking the "Charlie's Angels" star to horse riding.
Last month, Drew landed in hot water after she announced that she would continue filming season 4 of her talk show without writers amid the WGA strike. In response to the backlash, Drew decided to delay the show's season premiere. "I have no words to express my deepest apologies to anyone I have hurt and, of course, to our incredible team," she wrote at the time. "We really tried to find our way forward, and I truly hope for a resolution for the entire industry very soon."
After the writers strike ended on Wednesday, September 27, "The Drew Barrymore Show" revealed that it'd return for a new season on October 14. The talk show's head writers Chelsea White, Cristina Kinon and Liz Koe, however, reportedly refused to re-join the show.
