AceShowbiz - Jungkook just made his solo debut on Friday, July 14 and he already achieved new accomplishments. The BTS (Bangtan Boys) member just broke Spotify records with his new single "Seven" ft. Latto (Mulatto).
On Saturday, Chart Data reported on Twitter, "JungKook and @Latto's 'Seven' debuts at #1 on the global Spotify chart with 15.995 million streams." It added, "Breaking the record for biggest opening day for a collaboration in the platform's chart history."
In another tweet, it stated, "JungKook and @Latto's 'Seven' earns the biggest global Spotify chart streaming debut for a song by a K-Pop act, surpassing @BTS_twt's 'Butter'."
Jungkook dropped "Seven" on Friday. He unleashed the song alongside its official music video, which stars South Korean actress, Han So-Hee. Latto also makes an appearance in the visuals.
To celebrate the song release, Jungkook performed it live for the first time at the "Good Morning America" 2023 Summer Concert Series. He was accompanied by four male dancers when singing the breezy pop tune on Friday morning at NYC's Central Park.
Despite the song's success, Jungkook previously insisted that he wasn't chasing a hit when he wrote "Seven". He said, "I honestly didn't have a huge goal in mind, but since you said that, I'd be ecstatic if it becomes a 'hit,' " he told Variety.
The K-Pop star went on to explain that he wants fans to see his "more mature" side with his solo tunes. "It's my official solo debut, so everything is a challenge and feels new and fresh. Of course, I think a lot about delivering good music and performance while working on my music. But above all, as this is my first step forward in the spotlight as a solo artist, I want to show a more mature and grown version of myself," the musician explained.
