The 'Captain America: Brave New World' lead actor shares the story behind Harrison Ford's tattered pants in a set photo that sparked the theory about his possible transformation into Red-Hulk.

AceShowbiz - Anthony Mackie has debunked speculation about Red-Hulk's appearance in "Captain America: Brave New World". The theory ran wild after his co-star Harrison Ford was seen wearing ripped pants in an official set picture shared last month.

In a new interview with ComicBook.com, "The Falcon and the Winter Soldier" star has shared the story behind the tattered pants, which he claimed were originally his pants. He said that he gave the pants to his co-star Ford because the latter lost his luggage.

"See, Harrison and I go way back. A lot of people don't know this," Mackie said when promoting his new Peacock series "Twisted Metal". "This is our second time working together. He came down to Atlanta, they lost his luggage, so I gave him a pair of pants, but those are my work pants from working in the yard."

"Harrison, he's a curmudgeon," the 44-year-old jokingly said of the "Indiana Jones" actor, "so he goes, 'Anthony, just give me the damned pants.' And I was like, 'Alright.' So that's all that was. He just needed some pants."

Ford himself dodged the question when he was asked if he will turn into Red-Hulk in the upcoming Marvel film. "What is the Red Hulk?" he said during a chat with ComicBook.com about his latest film "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny".

After explained a bit, Ford turned it around on his co-star Phoebe Waller-Bridge, blaming her for not telling him about the character's history. When asked if fans can expect to see Red Hulk's first live-action appearance in "Brave New World", the 80-year-old coyly said that "it may or it may not" be included.

Marvel producer Nate Moore was also coy when asked about the matter in October 2022. "I mean, I think you're going to have to wait and see," he teased on ComicBook.com's "Phase Zero" podcast. "You know what I mean? But Harrison Ford, we couldn't be more excited. Obviously, when you have Han Solo or Indiana Jones involved in your movie, it just raises the game. So, we're excited to see Mackie and Harrison Ford in scenes together. I think it's going to be fantastic."

The photo in question was originally posted on Mackie's Instagram page to announce the new title of the movie. It captured the Sam Wilson depicter's interaction with Ford on the set. The "Star Wars" actor was seated under a production tent by the video monitors while wearing black pants that have been tattered around the legs.

So far, Ford has been only confirmed to portray President Thadues "Thunderbolt" Ross in "Brave New World". The film is directed by Julius Onah with the script which he co-wrote with Malcolm Spellman and Dalan Musson.

Liv Tyler, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson and Shira Haas also star in the film, which marks the first installment in the "Captain America" film franchise without Chris Evans in the titular role. "Brave New World" will head into theaters across the nation on July 26, 2024.
