AceShowbiz - Amy Schumer has revealed the reason why she dropped out of the original "Barbie" live-action movie. The "Trainwreck" actress, who previously landed a major role in the film, divulged that her exit was due to "creative differences."
"They said I was too thin," the 42-year-old quipped in the Thursday, June 8 episode of "What Happens Live with Andy Cohen". She added, "I can't wait to see the movie. I think it looks awesome. I think we said it was scheduling conflicts. That's what we said."
"But it really was just like, creative differences," the comedianne further noted. "But there's a new team behind it and it looks like it's very feminist and cool, so I will be seeing this movie."
Host Andy then asked Amy if she felt that the original version wasn't feminist and cool. In response, she simply said, "Yeah."
Amy was supposed to star in "Barbie" long before Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling joined the cast. She was initially set to play a character who gets kicked out of the perfect Barbieland because she doesn't quite fit the mold. After she's exiled, she sets on a journey to the real world and eventually discovers that being unique is an asset.
Her casting, however, was not met with a warm welcome. Many people took issue with it with one writing, "If Barbie became obese and heinous to men, Amy Schumer is perfect." Another insensitive Twitter user wrote, "Barbie?? Better lose a lot of weight for that role!"
