Damson Idris Suffering Nightmares After Calling on the 'Devil' to Get Into 'Snowfall' Role

During a discussion on 'Drama Actors Roundtable', the actor playing Franklin Saint on the John Singleton-created series admits to having nightmares on a daily basis for one month.

AceShowbiz - Damson Idris paid a hefty price for his role on "Snowfall". When talking about immersing himself into his character in the John Singleton-created series, the Franklin Saint depicter admitted that he had nightmares every day for a month after calling the devil for help inspire him.

The 31-year-old made the admission when sitting down with his fellow actors for The Hollywood Reporter's "Drama Actors Roundtable". In the Wednesday, May 24 episode, he began by confessing, "In this last season I was hitting a block, I was like, 'Oh I'm not doing it right.' "

"I went in the corner and then I was looking at the wall, and I was like, 'Come on Devil, come on Devil. Come to me, come to me.' I had to do something, like, crazy," he continued. On what happened afterward, he pointed out, "[I] had nightmares for a month. ... I had nightmares every day."

Damson went on to share what he had to do to eliminate the nightmares. "I just felt that energy, and I had to pray and do all of this stuff to get rid of it. You know, you call your mum up, and you're like, 'Bring me back to life.' " The boyfriend of Lori Harvey added, "That stuff is real, that stuff is really is real."

This was not the first time Damson offered the behind-the-scenes story from filming the final season of "Snowfall". In an April 28 article of GQ magazine, he spilled what he had to do to perfect his look, "I was like, 'Let me get this bloodshot eye.' And then we added the hair. My beard doesn't connect. So our makeup lady added the hair."

"And I was like, 'My lips look too fresh,' so she put the cracks around my lips and colored my teeth, and I didn't shower. Luckily, I didn't smell too bad," he recalled. "We added a bunch of sweat. I asked the costume department to give me trousers that were too big, so he'd always have to pick them up."

Damson additionally stated, "I wanted everything to be discolored with clothing. I'd get some alcohol and I'd palm it on my hand and I'd rub it on me so I could smell it. And all of those things contributed to just disappearing in it."
