The actress, best known for portraying Mercedes Jones on 'Glee', reveals her new relationship status while opening up about her split from her former fiance.

AceShowbiz - Amber Riley has moved on with someone new. More than a year after she and Desean Black called off their engagement, the Mercedes Jones depicter on "Glee" revealed that now has a boyfriend of eight months.
The 37-year-old came forward with her relationship status in a recent cover story for xoNecole. The actress, however, didn't offer more details regarding her new partner.
In her cover story, Amber also opened up about her split from Desean. "The breakup was never going to stop me from finding love. Or at least trying," she said. "I don't owe anybody a happily ever after."
"People break up. It happens. When it was good, it was good. When it was bad, it was terrible, hunny. I had to get the f**k up out of there," Amber continued. She then added that when we "find happiness," we should "enjoy it and work through it."
Amber confirmed her breakup with Desean in April 2022 through her representative. She first hinted at their split the month prior as she declared on the "Nice & Neat" podcast, "I am a single black female. I am, I'm a single black female but I'm not a crazy one like in the movie." She was referring to her Lifetime Original Movie, "Single Black Female".
Noting that the breakup was "amicable," Amber added, "I wish him the best." The winner of "Dancing with the Stars" season 17 further explained, "I don't have anything horrible or bad to say."
"It's taken me a couple years to understand that choosing myself is not selfish," she then disclosed. "Making those decisions to actively choose yourself has really helped me say, 'Oh god I really don't feel like getting up that early tomorrow to work out but I have this, this and this to do in the afternoon and I need to get my mind right.' And that is, 'Amber, you choosing yourself.' "
