AceShowbiz - Amber Riley and Desean Black have gone their separate ways. More than a year after they got engaged, the Mercedes Jones depicter on "Glee" and her fiance decided to call it quits.

Confirming Amber and Desean's split was her representative. The rep further told E! News that the 36-year-old actress and her former fiance "ask for privacy during this time."

The report arrived after Amber declared her single status back in March. When appearing on the "Nice & Neat" podcast, she told the host, "I am a single black female. I am, I'm a single black female but I'm not a crazy one like in the movie," referring to her Lifetime Original Movie, "Single Black Female".

Noting that the breakup was "amicable," Amber added, "I wish him the best." The winner of "Dancing with the Stars" season 17 further explained, "I don't have anything horrible or bad to say."

Now that she's single, Amber chose to focus on herself. "It's taken me a couple years to understand that choosing myself is not selfish," she shared. "Making those decisions to actively choose yourself has really helped me say, 'Oh god I really don't feel like getting up that early tomorrow to work out but I have this, this and this to do in the afternoon and I need to get my mind right.' And that is, 'Amber, you choosing yourself.' "

Amber confirmed her engagement to Desean back in November 2020. Posting a since-deleted image of the two, she wrote, "There was a time when I thought I didn't want or deserve this kind of love. I'm looking at a man who changed my mind. My time by myself, loving on myself, getting comfortable with myself, prepared me for you, and prepared me for this."
