AceShowbiz - A man arrested in the shooting death of Takeoff has been officially charged with murder. On Thursday, May 25, a Texas grand jury indicted Patrick Xavier Clark on murder charges, according to the Harris County District Attorney's Office.

Following the indictment, Patrick's attorney Carl Moore says that it's "not unexpected" due to a "minimal standard of proof" required. She believes that her client will be proven innocent throughout the course of a trial.

"Today's action by the grand jury is not unexpected. We would ask people to remember that getting an indictment requires meeting a very, very minimal standard of proof," the attorney says in a statement. "When we get inside a courtroom and in front of a jury, where we will be able to put on our evidence and cross-examine the state's witnesses - where the standard of proof is guilt beyond reasonable doubt - we expect the jury will come back with a verdict of not guilty."

Takeoff, born Kirsnick Khari Ball, was shot and killed during an altercation outside a bowling alley in Houston, Texas on November 1, 2022. His fellow Migos member and uncle Quavo was also there during the incident.

The coroner's report said Takeoff was shot in the head and the torso. In a statement, the 28-year-old rapper's record label said that he was killed by a "stray bullet," and Houston police chief Troy Finner said that he did not believe Takeoff to be the intended target. He was laid to rest following a private commemoration on November 10 and "Celebration of Life" at the State Farm Arena on the next day.

Patrick was arrested in December, one month after the shooting. He asked a judge for $5,000 to hire a private investigator to properly prepare his defense, claiming he's financially unable to cover the costs of hiring a P.I. on his own. In January of this year, however, he was released from the Harris County Jail after posting $1 million bond. He was initially held on a $2 million bond.
