AceShowbiz - Disney seemingly shows that it's on Team Meghan Markle in "The Little Mermaid (2023)". A reviewer who saw the early screening of the live-action adaptation of Disney's classic movie claimed that it featured some digs at Princess Kate Middleton.

Speaking to Page Six, the critic said that the movie contained some subtle yet plausible comparisons between Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. The reviewer explained that Duchess of Sussex was referenced through Ariel, who is black in the new version. Meanwhile, Prince Eric, who is white, was a nod to Meghan's husband Prince Harry.

The flick additionally took a jab at Kate, whose full name is Catherine, in one particular scene. "Ariel has sacrificed her voice in order to get to the surface and [meet] Prince Eric. She can't speak so he tries to guess her name," the critic shared. "His first guess is Diana. His second guess is Catherine, but after [Ariel gives a disgusted] reaction, he [concludes], 'OK, definitely not Catherine.' "

The reviewer noted that there's no logical explanation of the mermaid's extreme response. "Disney would be disingenuous to imply those name choices were coincidental," they added.

Meanwhile, Meghan turned heads as she graced the red carpet at a recent event. Alongside her husband Harry, the mom of two attended at the Ms. Foundation Women of Vision Awards: Celebrating Generations of Progress & Power in New York on Tuesday, May 16 where she was one of four honorees being recognized with the Women of Vision award.

The former "Suits" actress looked stunning in a gold Joanna Ortiz gown with a cut-out on the bodice. She paired her look with black Tom Ford heels and minimal jewelry on the red carpet. Meanwhile, Harry donned a stylish tuxedo to the event. Also joining the pair was Meghan's mom Doria Ragland, who opted for a black dress.

"Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex is a feminist, champion of human rights and gender equity, and global role model," her biography on the website said. "Her lifelong advocacy for women and girls remains a constant thread she weaves through both humanitarian and business ventures."
