The 38-year-old comedienne, who joined the NBC sketch show in 2012, said goodbye as her recurring character Cathy Anne during her last 'Weekend Update' on Saturday, December 17.

AceShowbiz - Cecily Strong is the latest "Saturday Night Live" cast member to leave the hit NBC sketch show. The comedienne, who has been on the show for 11 seasons, announced her departure in the Saturday, December 17 episode.

The 38-year-old said goodbye as her recurring character Cathy Anne during her last "Weekend Update". Noting that she was going to prison, she quipped she would be fine there because she had "friends on the inside." She was referring to Kate McKinnon and Aidy Bryant, whose pictures were shown onscreen.

"Everybody has to go to jail at some point, right? It's my time now," Cecily added. Breaking character a bit, the actress said, "I had a lot of fun here. And I feel really lucky that I have had so many of the best moments of my life in this place, and with these people that I love so much."

In another segment, Cecily played a RadioShack employee working her last day on the job. In the skit, Kenan Thompson who portrayed her boss, noted that she'd had "eight incredible years" working there. In response, she corrected, "Well, I've been here 11."

"I know, and eight of them were incredible," Kenan replied. "Frankly, I don't think RadioShack could have lasted this long without Cecily. Every time she came to work, she had a new character, or a new accent, or a new impression that would just blow you away. She'd have a power and joy to her performance that made you remember why you loved working at RadioShack in the first place."

Cecily joined "SNL" in its 38th season in 2012. She famously created characters like "The Girl You Wish You Hadn't Started a Conversation With at a Party" and impersonated celebrities such as Kendall Jenner, Megyn Kelly as well as Liz Cheney.
