Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, reportedly takes an Alford plea, meaning that he enters a guilty plea to the one charge while maintaining his innocence on that same charge as a form of self-preservation.

AceShowbiz - Gunna will get his freedom soon after striking a plea deal in his RICO case. The "Pushin P" rapper reportedly will be released from jail after he pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act on Wednesday afternoon, December 14.

It was unveiled that Gunna took an Alford plea, meaning that he entered a guilty plea to the one charge while maintaining his innocence on that same charge as a form of self-preservation. The emcee was sentenced to five years in prison, but it was commuted to time served.

The four-year remaining balance on the rap star's sentence, meanwhile, has been suspended. It will be subject to special conditions, including 500 hours of community service. The Georgia-born native will be required to use 350 of those hours to speak to young men and women in the community about the dangers of gangs and gang violence.

In a statement shared by his lawyer, Steve Sadow, Gunna said, "I have chosen to end my own RICO case with an Alford plea and end my personal ordeal by publicly acknowledging my association with YSL." He added, "An Alford plea in my case is the entry of a guilty plea to the one charge against me, which is in my best interest, while at the same time maintaining my innocence toward the same charge."

"I love and cherish my association with YSL music, and always will," he went on explaining. "I look at this as an opportunity to give back to my community and educate young men and women that 'gangs' and violence only lead to destruction."

Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Giavanni Kitchens, is among 28 persons associated with YSL who were charged in a 56-count Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) indictment. YSL Records' founder Young Thug is currently also in jail since he was arrested on May 9.
