AceShowbiz - The 2022 People's Choice Awards 2022 kicked off on Tuesday, December 6. Taking place at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, California, the award-giving event celebrated people's favorites in pop culture including movies, TV and music.
Prior to the ceremony, Ryan Reynolds, Lizzo and Shania Twain were already named as three major winners. The "Deadpool" actor was honored with The People's Icon Award for his contributions to the entertainment industry over the past three decades.
Lizzo was the winner of The People's Champion Award for her impact on music and TV, as well as her commitment to championing diversity and inclusion. As for Shania, the "You're Still the One" hitmaker took home The Music Icon trophy.
In the movie department, people voted "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" as The Movie of 2022. The Marvel superhero flick edged out fellow nominees, including "Bullet Train", "Elvis", "Nope", "The Batman", "Thor: Love and Thunder" and "Top Gun: Maverick".
"The Adam Project" won The Comedy Movie of 2022, with "Top Gun: Maverick" taking home the award for The Action Movie of 2022. Meanwhile, "Don't Worry Darling" was announced of the winner of The Drama Movie of 2022.
Elizabeth Olsen brought another trophy for "Doctor Strange 2" as she beat fellow nominees in The Action Movie Star of 2022 category. Adam Sandler was honored with The Comedy Movie Star of 2022, thanks to his appearance in "Hustle".
Meanwhile, "Stranger Things" led the TV department with 3 thropies. The Netflix hit series won The Show of 2022, edging out "Abbott Elementary", "Grey's Anatomy", "House of the Dragon" and "Saturday Night Live" among others. Additionally, "Stranger Things" came out victorious in The Sci-Fi/Fantasy Show of 2022 category. Star Noah Schnapp was also among the honorees that night as he was chosen as The Male TV Star of 2022.
As for The Drama Show of 2022, it went to "Grey's Anatomy". Its lead star Ellen Pompeo also won The Female TV Star of 2022. "Never Have I Ever", meanwhile, was honored with the title of The Comedy Show of 2022 with "The Kardashians" winning The Reality Show of 2022 category.
In the music section, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles came out as the winners of major awards as they won The Female Artist of 2022 and The Male Artist of 2022 respectively. Lizzo took home her second trophy that night as her hit song "About Damn Time" was revealed to be the winner of The Song of 2022.
BTS (Bangtan Boys) further proved themselves as one of the leaders in music scene as it was honored with The Group of 2022 and The Concert Tour of 2022 for "BTS Permission to Dance on Stage". Jungkook additionally snagged the Collaboration Song of 2022 with his and Charlie Puth's popular collaborative track "Left and Right".
