AceShowbiz - Tribute has poured in from the Hollywood community in the wake of the shocking news of Kirstie Alley's passing. Joining John Travolta to pay tribute to the late actress, Jamie Lee Curtis brushed off her past disagreements with her former "Scream Queens" co-star to praise her.
"She was a great comic foil in @tvscreamqueens and a beautiful mama bear in her very real life," the "Halloween" star posted on Instagram along with a picture of her and Kirstie. "She helped me buy onesies for my family that year for Christmas. We agreed to disagree about some things but had a mutual respect and connection. Sad news."
Tim Allen, who co-starred with Kirstin in "For Richer or Poorer", took to Twitter to mourn her death. "A sweet soul pass on in Kristie Alley. Sad, sad news. Prayers for all her family," the 69-year-old wrote on Monday, December 5.
Kirstie's "Cheers" co-star Kelsey Grammer said in a statement to Variety, "I always believed grief for a public figure is a private matter, but I will say I loved her." Kristin Chenoweth tweeted, "I'm completely DevesTated. RIP KIRSTIE."
Country singer-songwriter Travis Tritt wrote on Twitter that he was "shocked and saddened by the news." Yvette Nicole Brown echoed the sentiment as saying, "Wow. This is shocking news."
Megyn Kelly chimed in, "This is such sad news. A beautiful, brave, funny and beloved woman. Rest in Peace, Kirstie Alley." "Terminator" actor Robert Patrick sent his condolences to Kristie's family, adding, "So very sad. Kirstie Alley R.I.P."
Actor Ever Carradine thanked Kirstie for kickstarting her career. "I've not spoke w/ her forever, but have her to thank for launching my career. She told me I was funny every single day on 'Veronica's Closet,' and I believed her," she wrote. "She threw the best parties and gave the parakeets as our wrap gift. Godspeed."
News of Kirstie's death was announced by her family. Her children True and Lillie Parker said in a statement posted through the actress' social media accounts on Monday, "To all our friends, far and wide around the world… We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered."
They continued, "She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother."
"We are grateful to the incredible team of doctors and nurses at the Moffitt Cancer Center for their care," Kirstie's children added. Remembering her, they said, "Our mother's zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did."
"We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time," they concluded.
Kirstie was 71 years old.
