After a Whitney fan page tweets that the 'On the Floor' hitmaker will perform a tribute to the late singer at the 2023 Grammys, social media users are in frenzy over how J.Lo doesn't seem to be a fit choice.

AceShowbiz - A tribute to Whitney Houston may be appreciated by her fans, but not one from Jennifer Lopez. The Bronx star has been savagely mocked by social media users after words spread on Twitter that she would pay tribute to the late singer at the Grammys.

A Whitney fan page tweeted that J.Lo has agreed to do a Whitney tribute at the 2023 Grammy Awards, singing "I Have Nothing" and "I Will Always Love You". Citing her alleged interview with Time, the fan page posted, "JLo just revealed with @TIME that she is going a Whitney Houston tribute at the @Grammys next year. JLo said: 'I feel that Whitney's songs fit my vocal range very well. I'm going to sing I Have Nothing & I Will Always Love You.' "

Further fueling the speculation, a Twitter user named Chris Evans (not the actor) shared a supposed leaked "raw audio from Jennifer Lopez's rehearsals for her Grammy tribute to Whitney Houston." In the audio clip, the "If You Had My Love" songstress cracked up, seemingly being embarrassed at herself, after she failed to hit the high notes during what sounds like rehearsal.

However, the part of the lyrics that she sang in the audio clip was not from a Whitney song, but from "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" by Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer. "She kept trying to lower the key and her voice was still cracking. IM IN TEARS," Chris commented on it.

After the unconfirmed news went viral, social media users quickly weighed in on it, with many showing their disapproval to a Whitney tribute by J.Lo. "Jlo wanting to pay tribute to whitney like ok girl," one person reacted on Twitter.

"Hopefully this Whitney Houston tribute is happening at a local karaoke spot only," someone enthused. A third person slammed the 53-year-old singer/actress, "@jlo b***h you have some nerve! What did Aunt Whitney do to you? Why would you even accept the offer to tribute one of the greatest singers of our time and you can barely rub two notes together?"

Another mocked J.Lo, "Jlo is gonna do a Whitney Houston tribute? Will she be having Ashanti prerecord it or sing it backstage." A baffled fan of Whitney wondered, "Who gave JLo permission to give a tribute to Whitney?? Y'all be talking bad about gate keeping... but let's be real. Shorty wildin'."

Someone else advised J.Lo against doing the supposed tribute performance, "Jlo would never live through this one don't do it." Another believes that Kelly Clarkson is a better choice to do a Whitney tribute as saying, "Was Kelly Clarkson not available? I love her Queen Of The Night cover and I Will Always Love You she did on Mixtape Medley with Ariana Grande."

Despite the original tweet and the supposed leaked audio, The Shade Room claims there is no truth to the report that J.Lo is going to perform a tribute to Whitney at the Grammys. Neither the artist nor the Recording Academy has spoken up to clarify the report.
