The '21 Jump Street' actor files the petition a few months after announcing that he has decided to step back from media appearances or public events to promote his films for the sake of his mental health.

AceShowbiz - Jonah Hill takes a legal step to officially change his name. It was unveiled that the "21 Jump Street" actor has filed a petition in Los Angeles to drop his last name.
According to TMZ, the 38-year-old submitted his petition this week. He is requestioning to legally drop his name, Feldstein, and chose his stage name Jonah Hill instead.
Jonah is not the only celebrity who wants to change his name. Earlier this month, it was reported that Aaron Paul and Lauren want to change their surnames to conform to his professional identity and to keep the family name consistent.
According to documents obtained by TMZ, the couple has also made a request to change their six-month-old son's name from Casper Emerson Paul to Ryden Caspian Paul. The pair said they were required to give a name at the hospital when the baby was born but later found a moniker they liked better and want to legally make the switch.
Back to Jonah, he announced in August that he has decided to step back from media appearances or public events to promote his films for the sake of his mental health. "Through this journey of self-discovery within the film, I have come to the understanding that I have spent nearly 20 years experiencing anxiety attacks, which are exacerbated by media appearances and public facing events," he penned in an open letter, referring to his documentary "Stutz".
"You won't see me out there promoting this film, or any of my upcoming films, while I take this important step to protect myself," the comedian added. "The whole purpose of making this film is to give therapy and the tools I've learned in therapy to a wide audience for private use through an entertaining film... If I made myself sicker by going out there and promoting it, I wouldn’t be acting true to myself or to the film."
"I usually cringe at letters or statements like this but I understand that I am of the privileged few who can afford to take time off," Jonah admitted. He then assured fans that he's not retiring from Hollywood, saying, "I won't lose my job while working on my anxiety.
