AceShowbiz - Kevin Gates reflected on his weight loss journey. Making use of his Instagram account, the "Broken Love" rapper talked about how his body weight took a toll on his mental health when he was over 300 pounds back in 2019.
Alongside a video taken in that year, Kevin wrote in the caption, "This video was taken on the 22nd day of April 2019." He further explained, "I was over 300lbs with a set of titties - I was miserable, fat, and, unhappy, and a junky."
The "Thinkin' with My D**k" rhymer went on to say, "I had to find flaws in others to make myself feel okay - until you find true love for self - you can never truly love someone else - I love you all I'm never looking back - slow motion is always better than no motion - hard work pay off break not a day off."
Back in 2019, Kevin shared that he decided to focus on losing weight after one of his friends' children "tried to suck on my breast." The hip-hop artist revealed in an interview with Men's Health, "What really did it for me, I had my shirt off and I was holdin' my patna's baby and his baby tried to suck on my breast. I was like, 'I am too f**king fat and I'm a fat slob, I need to lose weight.' "
Of the incident, Kevin continued, "That was the most embarrassing s**t. I mean, s**t, even though I'm a big gorilla, I got feelings, too. Man, that s**t hurt my f**kin' feelings. I said, 'I got lose weight.' "
After hitting gym religiously, the results started to show. "I swear to God, look, when I first saw myself losing a bit of weight, my dream was to never wear a shirt any way," he said at the time. "I didn't want to keep hiding because it was going to make me stop working. So I wanted to take my shirt off. I'm talkin' about I want a woman to just see me and just fall on the ground and just die."
