Ryan Reynolds and Jackman confirm the 'Greatest Showman' actor will reprise his 'X-Men' role in the upcoming film that will mark Deadpool's first appearance in the MCU.

AceShowbiz - Ryan Reynolds and Marvel fans are finally getting their dream come true. Following relentless attempts to woo Hugh Jackman to reprise his role as Wolverine and multiple rejections from the Australian hunk, the "Logan" star has agreed to wear his adamantium claws once again for "Deadpool 3".

The good news was confirmed in a video shared via both actors' social media accounts on Tuesday, September 27. It begins with the Canadian-born star explaining his absence from the recent D23 Expo, which took place earlier this month.

"Hey everyone, we're extremely sad to have missed D23, but we've been working very hard on the next 'Deadpool' film for a good long while now," Reynolds says in the video. "I've had to really search my soul on this one. His first appearance in the MCU obviously needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new depth, motivation, meaning."

"Every 'Deadpool' needs to stand out and stand apart," the 45-year-old continues, as the scenes show him walking through the woods, working out, working in front of a typewriter and pouring himself a glass of his Aviation gin. "It's been an incredible challenge that has forced me to reach down deep inside."

But in the end, Reynolds admits, "And I…I have nothing. Yeah, just completely empty up here. And terrifying. But we did have one idea," looking hopeless. Enter Jackman who casually walks behind Reynolds as he appears to munch an apple while heading to a staircase. "Hey, Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?" Reynolds asks Jackman, who simply replies, "Yeah, sure, Ryan."

The video ends with Whitney Houston's "I Will Always Love You", subtitled as "I will always love Hugh", and a "Coming Hughn" teaser. The Deadpool logo appears, then is quickly sliced up by Wolverine's adamantium claws.

Reynolds captioned the video with, "Hard keeping my mouth sewn shut about this one," while Jackman reiterated his answer, "Yeah, sure."

Shawn Levy, who teamed up with Reynolds in "Free Guy" and "The Adam Project", will direct "Deadpool 3". He weighed in on the announcement about Deadpool and Wolverine team-up as tweeting, "I want to take minute to thank #StrangerThings for training me to keep my big mouth shut. This news has been burning a hole in my lips for weeks now."

Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who penned the first two "Deadpool" films, return to write the third. The movie is due out on September 6, 2024.

Meanwhile, James Mangold who directed "Logan", which was believed to end Wolverine's story, responded to the news with a gif of a scene from the 2017 movie.
