AceShowbiz - Julia Fox further shows that she's not bothered by the criticism over her recent parenting advice. After being blasted for saying that kids need life skills, the "Uncut Gems" actress took to her TikTok account to poke fun at the backlash.
The video saw her with her 19-month-old son Valentino, whom she shares with ex Peter Artemiev. She then asked her baby, who was lying in bed with her, "Do you work in a labor camp?" In response, the actress' little one buried his face in his mom's lap, prompting Julia to say, "The answer is no."
Julia recently made headlines after insinuating that kids should be working instead of playing. In a TikTok video that the 32-year-old shared earlier this week, the ex of Kanye West said that her son "doesn't care for his toys," adding, "He is actually more interested in what I'm doing."
"So I suggest that everyone buy their kid a mini-mop and mini-broom and start teaching them those life skills really young," the model continued. "So when they enter the real world they don't have to outsource for everything."
"the idea of childhood was invented as a way to get parents to spend a lot of money on s**t that's not really teaching your kid anything," Julia added. "The concept of childhood was only invented in the 18th century… Prior to that, children were just regarded as little adults."
Her remarks quickly landed her in hot water, though some fellow moms showed their support. A commenter expressed their disagreement as saying, "i prefer to let my kids have the opportunity to not have to worry about adult life. just enjoy living in the moment and not moping [sic] and sweeping lol."
Following the backlash, Julia then set the record straight. "Oh my god, you guys are really acting like I said that kids should be working. That's not what I said. I said that kids need to learn skills," she said in another TikTok video. "Listen, there's a reason why, in public schools specifically, they don't teach kids trades or any marketable skills like sewing, or building things or growing food, you know, like basic s**t. Because they want to keep people dumb so that they have to go pay for it."
Calling people's reaction to her remarks "crazy," she shared that she takes a more feminist approach when raising her son. "Because I have a son, specifically, I don't want him to expect that women are just going to clean up after him and do everything for him," she divulged. "I saw that my whole life, even in my own family and that stops with me."
