The Samantha depicter in 'Spread' was previously declared 'legally dead' and on life support awaiting an organ recipient match after a fiery car accident earlier this month.

AceShowbiz - Anne Heche has been removed from life support. The 53-year-old former "Hung" star has been taken off life support "peacefully" nine days after she was involved in a terrifying fiery car crash.

"Anne Heche has been peacefully taken off life support," a representative for the troubled actress confirmed to PEOPLE on Sunday evening, August 14. The actress was previously placed on life support as she awaited for organ recipients after she was declared "legally dead."

On Friday, August 12, her spokesperson confirmed that she's deemed brain dead despite her heart still beating. "Today we lost a bright light, a kind and most joyful soul, a loving mother, and a loyal friend," the rep said in a statement.

"Anne will be deeply missed but she lives on through her beautiful sons, her iconic body of work, and her passionate advocacy," the statement further read. "Her bravery for always standing in her truth, spreading her message of love and acceptance, will continue to have a lasting impact."

Anne was involved in a serious car crash on August 5. The accident ended with her crashing her blue Mini Cooper into a Mar Vista home rented by Lynne Mishele. Following the fiery crash, the "Spread" actress was taken to a nearby hospital with severe burns. She was then intubated.

A video from a neighboring home captured Anne's car speeding down the street before it went through a house and caught fire. "The vehicle was heading east on Preston Way at a high rate of speed, entered the T intersection at Preston Way and Walgrove Ave, ran off the road and collided with the residence in the 1700 block of Walgrove," an LAPD spokesperson said in a statement. "The vehicle became engulfed in flames and the driver was transported to a local hospital by LAFD."

LAPD officer Annie Hernandez stated that the actress was under investigation for misdemeanor DUI and hit-and-run. Later, it was reported that after being given a blood test, Anne had cocaine and fentanyl in her system at the time of the car wreck.

As for now, LAPD has ended the investigation into the terrifying car crash following her passing. "There will be no further investigative efforts made in this case," an LAPD rep said in a statement. "Any information or records that have been requested prior to this turn of events will still be collected as they arrive as a matter of formalities and included in the overall case. When a person suspected of a crime expires, we do not present for filing consideration."
