The 'All of Me' hitmaker, who is currently expecting another child with wife Chrissy Teigen, reveals he's no longer close with the Atlanta rapper because of their different political views.

AceShowbiz - John Legend revealed that politics have cost him his friendship with Kanye West. In a new interview, the awards-winning singer/songwriter admitted that he had a fallout with the Yeezy designer because they're not on the same page about Ye's presidential run and support for Donald Trump.

During his Thursday, August 4 appearance on "The Axe Files", the "All of Me" crooner said, "[Kanye and I] aren't friends as much as we used to be." He divulged, "I honestly think because we publicly disagreed on his running for office, his supporting Trump, I think it became too much for us to sustain our friendship, honestly."

The EGOT winner insinuated that Ye was disappointed in him because of his lack of support for his political endeavor. "I wasn't alone in that, but, you know, he [Kanye] was not happy about that. And we really haven't been close since then," the 43-year-old shared.

Despite their differences, John said he still respects Ye for how open and honest he is about his life. "I think he's been very open with who he is and his struggles with mental health," the "Love Me Now" singer added. "And he's very real, honestly."

John went on saying about his former close friend, "So I think there's not a lot about him that people don't get ... Like he's been pretty upfront with his opinions, his struggles, all the things that he's dealing with. And I think what you see with him is pretty much what you get."

John and Ye infamously feuded on social media after the latter rocked the MAGA hat in 2018. At the time, the former reminded Ye, "Don't let this be part of your legacy. You're the greatest artist of our generation."

It appears that the issue had been resolved at the time as Kanye replied, "I love you John and I appreciate your thoughts. You bringing up my fans or my legacy is a tactic based on fear used to manipulate my free thought," but their relationship will never be the same again.
