AceShowbiz - Joe Rogan spoke out against claims that he's a "secret conservative." In an episode of his "Joe Rogan Experience" podcast with guest Andrew Schulz, the host addressed the matter as he talked about the overturning of Roe v. Wade before detailing the threats against LGBTQIA+ rights.
"It's not just abortion rights, but now they're going after gay marriage too, which is so strange to me," Joe told Andrew in the Monday, July 25 episode. "Gay marriage is not silly. It's marriage - it's marriage from people that are homosexual and it's for them. It's important. They want it. They want to affirm their love and their relationship."
He continued, "The fact that they're going after [gay marriage] now almost makes me feel like they want us to fight. They wanna divide us in the best way they can. And this is the best way for them to keep pulling off all the bullshit they're doing behind the scenes is to get us to fight over things like gay marriage or to get us to fight over things like abortion. It's like, why are you removing freedoms?"
"It's so homophobic," Joe noted. "Because you're saying there's something wrong with being homosexual by saying that you are opposed to gay marriage. You're saying you're opposed to gay people."
He then shared that these issues was among "the kind of s**t" that inspires him to not be a Republican. "People will say, like, 'Oh you're a secret conservative.' I'm like, you can suck my d**k. You don't know what the f**k you're talking about," Joe explained. "I'm so far away from being a Republican."
"Just because I believe in the Second Amendment and just because I support the military and just because I support police. Like, I was on welfare as a kid. I think it's important. I think having a social safety net is crucial. We should help each other. We're supposed to be one big community," he continued. Joe also called himself a "bleeding heart liberal" on multiple issues, though he would "fall into the more conservative side" on issues he defined as being focused on "discipline and hard work."
Joe's remarks arrived after he outraged advocates for the homeless when he joked about "shooting" them in Los Angeles. While discussing a recent federal court ruling that barred the city from taking possession of a homeless person's personal property in the July 14 episode of his podcast, he told comedian Tom Segura, "But they wouldn't arrest you if you shot somebody. Maybe you should just go shoot the homeless people." To that, Tom responded, "I like your ideas."
