Declyn 'Dex' Thornton, who is also a musician, reportedly was arrested in the early hours of Thursday morning, July 14 for sitting in a stolen 2014 Mercedes Benz C350.

AceShowbiz - Cyndi Lauper's son is facing a legal issue. It was unveiled that Declyn "Dex" Thornton Lauper was arrested in New York City after police found him inside a stolen car.

According to PEOPLE, Dex was taken into custody in the early hours of Thursday morning, July 14 for sitting in a stolen 2014 Mercedes Benz C350. The New York City Police Department stated that officers noticed the car at around 1:40 A.M. as it was illegally double-parked at the corner of West 140th Street and Broadway.

After a quick check, cops determined that the vehicle was stolen. Per TMZ report, the car was reported stolen two years ago and the plates were registered to a different vehicle.

Dex was then charged with felony unauthorized use of a vehicle. However, the 24-year-old already got his freedom back as he was reportedly released with a desk appearance ticket for a future court date.

Dex, who is a musician, has yet to detail his recent arrest. However, he warned the media through his Instagram Story to keep "my [mother's] name out of your mouth." He added, "I couldn't have asked for a better mother."

Dex is Cyndi's only child with her husband David Thornton. The family previously appeared together on her reality show "Cyndi Lauper: Still So Unusual", which ran for one season on We TV in 2013.

Back in 2008, Cyndi revealed how fame has impacted her son. "It's hard for him," she admitted while speaking to The Guardian. "People look at him, and he feels the pressure of being my son."

"Someone came up to me in the street and kept talking and talking. Declyn said afterwards, 'Who are you?' And I said, 'I'm a mommy,' " the Grammy-winning artist recalled at that time. "And he said, 'No, you're not - you're Cyndi Lauper!' "
