AceShowbiz - Toby Keith has had some unfortunate news to share with his fans. The country music star has revealed that he has been battling stomach cancer which has forced him to scale down his career.

The singer/songwriter shared the news via his Instagram and Twitter page on Sunday, June 12, announcing that he received the diagnosis in the fall of last year. He has since received various treatments for the disease.

"Last fall I was diagnosed with stomach cancer," the 60-year-old star wrote on his Instagram post, which he repeated in the caption. "I've spent the last 6 months receiving chemo, radiation and surgery."

Toby then assured, "So far, so good," but added, "I need time to breathe, recover and relax." Remaining optimistic, he said, "I am looking forward to spending this time with my family. But I will see the fans sooner than later. I can't wait. -T"

Following the heartbreaking announcement, the Ohio State Fair announced that Toby's scheduled performance on July 28 had been canceled. According to his official website, he is set to embark on a multicity tour in support of his latest album "Peso in My Pocket", with the first show scheduled for Friday, June 17 at Illinois' 2022 RibFest. No change has been made to the rest of his schedule so far.

In February of this year, Toby also played at the 2022 San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, months into treatment and his diagnosis.

Toby has since received support from his fellow artists and followers. Musician Scott Stevens wrote in the comment section, "Praying for and thinking of you brother." Singer/songwriter Lance Carpenter similarly wrote, "Prayers up for ya Big Dog!"

Soccer player Chris Frederick chimed in, "Praying Massively For You." A fan commented, "Sending you love and strength and prayers!" Another follower added, "Praying over you! May the Lord completely heal you and comfort you and your family during this time."
