The 'Without Me' hitmaker previously accuses their record label Capitol Music of holding their new music until 'they can fake a viral moment' on the video-sharing app.

AceShowbiz - Halsey has finally released their new song "So Good". The 27-year-old pop singer dropped their new track after a long wait and a heated TikTok drama with their record label Capitol Music.

The new track features the atmospheric rock-tinge that colored their latest album, "If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power", as they sing about a lost love that later returns. "Do I think about the one that got away/I know his name, I think about him every day," they continue. "When you left, I thought you held her body closer/ I never knew that you would tell her that it's over/ 'Cause I'm all you think about and everywhere you look/I know it's bad, but we could be so good."

The road to release was filled with controversy after Halsey put their record label on blast on social media for allegedly refusing to put it out until they were able to "fake a viral moment" on TikTok. "Everything is marketing," Halsey wrote in a TikTok that ironically went viral, as a portion of the new track played. "I just want to release music, man. And I deserve better tbh."

Following Halsey's TikTok post, the label, which boasts Katy Perry, Aitch, Lewis Capaldi and Sir Paul McCartney on their books, issued a statement on Twitter that read, "@halsey we love you and are here to support you. We are committing to a release of 'So Good' on June 9th, 2022."

The statement continued to highlight the record label's intention to "continue to have these critical conversations." The post added, "We are an artist first company that encourages open dialogue. We have nothing but a desire to help each one of our artists succeed, and hope that we can continue to have these critical conversations."

After the news of the release date, Halsey admitted they "didn't expect so much conversation." They tweeted, "I didn't expect so much conversation about this record. All I know is that I wanted you guys to hear it and now you can. So Good, song on June 9th and video the next day. Endy gave my flowers."
