AceShowbiz - Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley's legal issue has put the future of their show in jeopardy. Season 10 of "Chrisley Knows Best" is reportedly now up in their air following the couple's conviction in their bank and tax fraud case.
Back in May, a week before the federal trial began, the reality TV series was actually already picked up by USA Network for a 10th season. Filming was set to begin in June, but now it's unclear when the Chrisleys will begin production for the supposed new season, TMZ reports.
According to sources familiar with the situation, the cable channel has yet to make a decision on the future of the show as they are awaiting the sentencing, which still takes months before it's announced. While the family could start filming now, Todd and Julie's attorneys would likely advise them against filming for the new season because anything they say on TV could be used against them in court.
As for the ninth season of "Chrisley Knows Best", USA Network announced earlier this week that it will air as planned. It was announced in May that the new episodes of season 9 would air beginning Thursday, June 23, and that has not changed following the conviction.
The ninth season was filmed before the trial began and the show was not in production during the course of the trial, so neither the trial nor the verdict will be part of the show.
On Tuesday, June 7, Todd and Julie were found guilty on all 12 counts, including wire fraud, conspiracy to commit bank fraud and conspiracy to defraud the United States. Their former accountant Peter Tarantino was also found guilty of conspiracy to defraud the United States and willfully filing false tax returns.
The pair face up to 30 years behind bars, but the sentence will not be announced until October. They are confined to home detention following the verdict. Speaking of the trial outcome, their lawyer Bruce Morris said in a statement that they're "disappointed in the verdict." The attorney further explained that "an appeal is planned."
