AceShowbiz - More details surrounding Kailia Posey's tragic death have emerged. It's announced that the cause of death of the "Toddlers & Tiaras" former star was asphyxia due to ligature hanging.
On Wednesday, May 11, the Whatcom County medical examiner in Washington unveiled that the late 16-year-old star died from ligature strangulation in her car at Birch Bay State Park on May 2. The Whatcom County Sheriff's Office said the autopsy and toxicology reports would not be disclosed to the public because disclosure would be "highly offensive" and "not of legitimate concern to the public, and therefore would violate the right to privacy."
The authorities found Kailia's body inside a car on May 2 at Birch Bay State Park. It's a 194-acre state park located along the Strait of Georgia shoreline, about nine miles from the Canadian border and features a scenic rocky beach and large camping ground.
Kailia's mother Marcy Posey Gatterman broke the news of the sudden passing via Facebook on May 2. "I don't have words or any thoughts," Marcy wrote, along with a picture of her late daughter smiling in a sparkly dress that she wore to a prom in April.
Marcy added, "A beautiful baby girl is gone. Please give us privacy as we mourn the loss of Kailia. My baby forever." Kailia's family later set up the Kailia Posey Teen Crisis Intervention Fund with the goal of getting "much needed resources to students in crisis."
Upon learning of Kailia's tragic passing, one of her friends confirmed that the late star had been "struggling" before she took her own life. "We knew she was struggling with a few things," the so-called close friend said in a statement to Page Six. "And we all did everything we could to encourage her and help."
The friend, however, didn't detail what exactly Kailia had been dealing with, adding, "We didn't know what was going on." The said pal later praised Kailia as a "role model" and a "big name in a lot of different places."
