The 16-year-old beauty, who starred in an episode of the TLC show, reportedly decided 'to end her earthly life' not long after she was selected to be a cheerleader at her high school.

AceShowbiz - Kailia Posey's cause of death has been revealed. The family of the "Toddlers and Tiaras" star confirmed in a statement to TMZ that she died by suicide at the age of 16.

"Although she was an accomplished teenager with a bright future ahead of her, unfortunately in one impetuous moment, she made the rash decision to end her earthly life," the family told the publication. They went on to detail Posey's accomplishments, saying, "She won countless crowns and trophies after competing on the pageant circuit her entire life."

"Her highly acclaimed talent as a contortionist had already led to professional touring job offers. And she had recently been selected to be a cheerleader at her high school next fall," the message further read. Posey's family then noted that she had plans to continue working in the entertainment industry while trying to get a commercial pilot's license.

In the wake of her passing, the family has set up a Whatcom Community Foundation fund in her name in hopes of getting "much needed resources to students in crisis."

Confirming Posey's death was her mother, Marcy Posey Gatterman, on Monday, May 2. Making use of her Facebook account, the grieving mom shared, "I don't have words or any thoughts. A beautiful baby girl is gone. Please give us privacy as we mourn the loss of Kailia. My baby forever."

Posey starred in an episode of "Toddlers & Tiaras", which aired on TLC from 2009 to 2013. The reality series saw families as they prepped their children for beauty pageants. On the show, Posey, who was 5 years old at the time, competed in the California Tropic Arizona pageant. She was famous for her reaction during an interview on the show which has been turned into an online GIF as the "grinning girl."

Following her appearance on the reality series, Posey continued to compete in pageants. In January, she announced she was going to compete in Miss Washington Teen USA in February. "One word. Thankful," she wrote in a since-deleted Instagram post.
