When weighing in on the incident in a new interview, Rose Rock puts the 'King Richard' leading man on blast as she says, 'When you hurt my child, you hurt me.'

AceShowbiz - Chris Rock's mom has broken her silence on Will Smith's infamous slap at the 2022 Academy Awards. Feeling hurt by what the "King Richard" actor has done to her son, Rose Rock claimed the incident also affected her and the comedian's loved ones.

Rose offered her two cents during an interview with South Carolina's WISTV. "When Will slapped Chris, he slapped all of us, but he really slapped me," she declared. "When you hurt my child, you hurt me."

"I have no idea what I would say other than, what in the world were you thinking?" she argued. "You did a slap, but so many things could have happened from that. Chris could have stepped back and fallen. You really could have gotten taken out in handcuffs."

Rose, who didn't attend the annual event, went on fuming, "You didn't think. You reacted to your wife giving you the side-eye and you went up and made her day because she was mulled over laughing when it happened."

Rose said Chris was "happy" to present the Best Documentary Feature award to Questlove, but the moment was taken away due to the incident. "No one even heard his speech. No one was able to just be in the moment because everyone was sitting there like, 'what just happened?' "

Will slapped Chris after he made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head at the 2022 Oscars. He, however, has issued a public apology to the comic. "I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris… I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be," he stated. "I deeply regret that my behavior has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress."

Will has since announced his resignation from the Academy. The "Aladdin" star, who won the Best Actor award for his performance in "King Richard" at this year's ceremony, was later banned from Oscar events for 10 years as a punishment for the assault.
