During a discussion on the ABC daytime talk show, the 66-year-old Oscar-winning actress and TV personality insists that the Holocaust is about 'man's inhumanity to man.'

AceShowbiz - Whoopi Goldberg has regretted her recent remarks that she made on "The View". Having come under fire for saying that "the Holocaust isn't about race," the ABC daytime talk show co-host issued her "sincerest" apology on Twitter.

The 66-year-old expressed her remorse on Twitter on Monday, January 31. "On today's show, I said the Holocaust 'is not about race, but about man's inhumanity to man.' I should have said it is about both," she wrote in her statement.

"As Jonathan Greenblatt from the Anti-Defamation League shared, 'The Holocaust was about the Nazi's systematic annihilation of the Jewish people - who they deemed to be an inferior race.' I stand corrected," she added. "The Jewish people around the world have always had my support and that will never waiver. I'm sorry for the hurt I have caused."

Goldberg made the comments in the Monday episode of "The View". At that time, she and her co-hosts were discussing a Tennessee school board banning Art Spiegelman's book "Maus" from the eighth grade English and language arts curriculum due to "inappropriate language" and an illustration of a nude woman.

"If you're going to do this, then let's be truthful about it, because the Holocaust isn't about race," Goldberg pointed out. "It's about man's inhumanity to man. That's what it's about."

Disagreed with Goldberg's opinion, co-host Joy Behar said, "Well, they considered Jews a different race," referring to the Nazis. Anna Navarro also pushed back, noting, "But it's about white supremacy."

The Oscar winner, however, insisted that "these are two white groups of people." She added, "You're missing the point. The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley. Let's talk about it for what it is. It's how people treat each other. It's a problem. It doesn't matter if you're Black or white, cause Black, white, Jews ... everybody eats each other."
