According to a new report, the 'Don't Look Up' writer/director will serve as a producer for the new project, while fellow screenwriter Billy Ray is set to direct the movie.

AceShowbiz - People are seemingly tired of Adam McKay's satirical films. Many Twitter users are criticizing the filmmaker after it's reported that he is making a movie about the traumatizing January 6 Capitol riot called "J6".

According to Deadline, Adam will serve as a producer, while Billy Ray is set to direct the movie. "Billy has written a screenplay that is not only harrowing and terrifying but is sure to become the definitive cinematic document on that gut-wrenching day," Adam said in a statement.

Billy, who previously developed the project as a limited series for Showtime, stated, "The goal was to do a ground-level view of a momentous day." He added, "It's about protesters who became rioters and cops who became defenders of democracy. Someone else can tell the story of the chaos at the White House on that day. I wanted to stay in the trenches."

Upon learning of the news, some people call out Adam on the blue-bird app. "someone needs to stop adam mckay," one person argued. Another echoed the sentiment, "what's our plan to stop adam mckay from making movies ever again like this is getting out of hand." A third tweeted, "i'm going to kill myself in front of adam mckay to change the trajectory of his life."

Adam's movies are no stranger to creating online debate. A month ago, the comedian/screenswriter responded to criticism of his new film "Don't Look Up", which stars Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, Ariana Grande, Tyler Perry, Timothee Chalamet and more.

Adam insinuated that those who don't like the Netflix environmental satire don't care about climate change. "Loving all the heated debate about our movie. But if you don't have at least a small ember of anxiety about the climate collapsing (or the US teetering) I'm not sure Don't Look Up makes any sense," the 53-year-old penned on Twitter in December. "It's like a robot viewing a love story. 'WHy ArE thEir FacEs so cLoSe ToGether?' "
