AceShowbiz - Jay Weaver is the latest artist who lost his battle with COVID-19. The bass player for the Christian band Big Daddy Weave passed away after suffering from complications at the age of 42.

On Monday, January 3, his brother and the band's frontman Mike Weaver announced the heartbreaking news via Instagram. The bass player spent six days in the hospital "fighting so hard" against the "awful virus." In a two-minute video, the singer said, "I'm so sorry to bring this news, but I'm also excited to celebrate where he is right now. My brother, Jay, went to be with Jesus just a couple of hours ago."

"You guys have seen him walk the uphill battle and you guys have helped carry him through so much," Mike continued. The 45-year-old Christian crooner added, "And man, I'm telling you, the Lord used him in such a mighty way out on the road for so many years."

Mike went on to say, "And anybody's who's come in contact with him, man, just knows how real his faith in Jesus was." The "Redeemed" singer stressed that "even though COVID may have taken his last breath, Jesus was right there to catch him."

Mike said that his heart is broken for his and his brother's family. "But we all just really wanted to thank you for walking with us through so much, you know, for so long," he shared. "The Lord used him in such a mighty way out on the road for many years. And anybody who has come into contact with him knows just how real his faith in Jesus was."

The post's comment section was soon flooded with messages of condolences from his fellow musicians. "Jay has taught me so much about following Jesus and it is a privilege to have known him this side of eternity. I look forward to seeing Him fully healed and at perfect peace in Glory. Praying for you all today Mike," wrote Irish band We Are Messengers.

"I'm sorry for your loss dear brother! We all got a little better picture of Jesus because Jay was in this world…Will continue to lift up your family and Jay's sweet family. Love you my friend!" Steven Curtis Chapman commented. MercyMe frontman Bart Millard, in the meantime, penned, "Mike. I am so sorry. Praying for you and your family. Man I loved that dude."

Also mourning Jay's death was Danny Gokey. The gospel artist said, "My heart breaks for you and his family. Even though we know they're in heaven it's still difficult at times to live here without them. Prayers to you and your whole family."

Jay is survived by his wife Emily and their three children, Makenzie, Madison and Nathan. Tragically, the Florida musician passed away 11 days ahead of the couple's 12th wedding anniversary on January 13.
