One moment that is definitely among the highlights in 2021 is when Meghan Markle and her husband Prince Harry sat down with Oprah Winfrey for CBS's "Oprah with Meghan and Harry" in March. The sit-down marks the first public interview of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following their exit from British royal family.

In the bombshell interview, Meghan and Harry didn't seem to hold back as she got candid about her struggle while living inside the Palace as well as racism that she and her unborn child faced within the royal family. The former "Suits" star also shared with Oprah that all the pressure and stress drove her to be suicidal. Adding insult to the injury, the mom of two claimed that Palace refused to give her professional help when she requested.

This year saw several music events starting to return offline after being canceled due to COVID-19 in 2020. Among the returning concert was Travis Scott (II)'s Astroworld Festival that took place on Friday, November 5 at NRG Park in Houston. The sold-out outside concert should be the place where everyone had fun with family and friends, but that night took a tragic turn when 8 people died at the scene from crowd surge.

While it was shocking enough, death toll continued rising to 10 after 9-year-old Ezra Blount, the youngest among the victims, died of injuries sustained during the festival on November. Travis was quickly under fire after footage from the horrifying night saw Travis seemingly ignoring fans' plea to stop the show. He insisted that he didn't know the severity of the accident. He as well as the organizers face multiple lawsuits following the tragedy.

This year is probably the best year for Britney Spears. In November, a judge approved the termination of the pop star's conservatorship, freeing the pop star from the controversial legal arrangement that has controlled her life for nearly 14 years. The termination came five months after the "Toxic" singer spoke publicly about the arrangement for the first time in court.

The case, which further caught people's attention after "Framing Britney Spears" aired, prompted fans to trend #FreeBritney with some of them even protesting outside the courthouse in Los Angeles. Britney was first placed into a conservatorship while facing apparent mental health struggles amid vicious paparazzi abuse in 2008.

4. DaBaby's Homophobic Remarks

DaBaby didn't always have the best moment in 2022. The "Suge" rapper received huge flak for his insensitive remarks about LGBTQ+ community during his set on Rolling Loud Miami 2021's final day on July 25. In between his performance, the hip-hop star told the audience, "If you didn't show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that'll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up. … Fellas, if you ain't sucking d**k in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up."

Following the controversial comments, the backlash came almost immediately. DaBaby initially showed no regret for making such comments and even doubled down on it as he urged people who were not physically at the event to "shut the f**k up." He, however, changed his tune after Dua Lipa removed him from a remix of her hit "Levitating". Despite the backlash, DaBaby still found supporters in fellow rappers like T.I. and Boosie Badazz (Lil Boosie).

2021 also saw a power couple in the Hollywood shockingly splitting. Following weeks of split rumors, Kim Kardashian filed for divorce from Kanye West after nearly 7 years of marriage. The "Donda" artist only responded to the filing in April with court documents which saw him agreeing that the reason for their divorce was "irreconcilable differences."

Amid their divorce, the exes appeared to be moving on from each other. Kim is now dating comedian Pete Davidson, while Kanye was spotted spending time with some models. Suprisingly, Kanye seemingly changed his mind as he made public plea for Kim to come back to him. The SKIMS founder, however, didn't seem to be on the same page with Kanye. She continues to proceed with the divorce, filing legal document in December to become officially single.

It was beyond shocking when news broke out that Alec Baldwin accidentally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and director Joel Souza during filming for "Rust" back in October. Unfortunately, Halyna succumbed to her wounds while Souza was able to recover from his own.

Later in December, Alec detailed the horrifying moment in an exclusive interview with George Stephanopoulos. In the sit-down, the former "Saturday Night Live" star claimed that he wasn't responsible for the fatal accident. "Someone is responsible for what happened, and I can't say who that is, but I know it's not me," so he insisted. The statement only earned him even more backlash. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Zayn Malik and Gigi Hadid were happily co-parenting their daughter Khai until this year. The pair, who have been dating on and off since late 2015, called it quits earlier this year after the former One Direction member assaulted Gigi's mom Yolanda Hadid during an altercation on September 29, 2021. The details of the fight remained unknown until October 28, when TMZ published a report that claimed he "struck" "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" alum.

Defending himself in a lengthy post on Twitter, the "Pillow Talk" singer wrote, "In an effort to protect that space for her, I agreed to not contest claims arising from an argument I had with a family member of my partner's who entered our home while my partner was away several weeks ago." He added, "I am hopeful thought for healing and for all involved with the harsh words shared and more importantly I remain vigilant to protect Khai and give her the privacy she deserves."

Donald Trump often caused controversy over his tweets, but it all ended in January of this year when Twitter decided to permanently ban the former president of the U.S. from the platform. The decision was made after he kept breaking the site's policies with encouraging violent invasion of the U.S. Capitol on January 6 being the last straw.

"After close review of recent Tweets from the @realDonaldTrump account and the context around them we have permanently suspended the account due to the risk of further incitement of violence," Twitter said, adding, "In the context of horrific events this week, we made it clear on Wednesday that additional violations of the Twitter Rules would potentially result in this very course of action." Trump allegedly has been trying to make the blue bird app to reinstate his account, but seeing that he has yet to be back on the platform, it seems like his attempt is all to no avail.

Tiger Woods nearly escaped death this year when he got into a car accident on February 23. The pro athlete was traveling on the border of Rolling Hills Estates and Rancho Palos Verdes when the crash took place at roughly 7 A.M. local time. Woods was immediately hospitalized after firefighters used an ax and other tools to remove him from the severely damaged vehicle.

In November, Woods later addressed his car accident in his first news conference since the crash in Southern California. "This one's been much more difficult," Woods said. "The knee stuff was one thing. That's one level. Then the back. With this right leg. ... it's hard to explain how difficult it is. Being immobile for three months. Just to lay there. I was just looking forward to getting outside. That was a goal of mine. Especially for a person who lived his entire life outside, that was a goal. I transitioned from a wheelchair to crutches and now nothing. It's been a lot of hard work."
