The 'Gossip Girl' actress creates a line of mixers although she's not a drinker because she's tired of feeling left out at parties where everyone is on the booze.

AceShowbiz - Actress Blake Lively created her non-alcoholic line of mixers because she's sick of feeling left out at parties where everyone else is on the booze.

The "A Simple Favor" star launched the line, Betty Buzz, in September (21), to help her fit in at social gatherings where she wasn't drinking.

"I don't drink because I don't like the effects of alcohol, but I like being a part of it," she told People magazine.

"I like being social. I like people coming together. I found that sometimes not drinking, the thing that was interesting was that it was a little alienating, because you don't feel - and maybe it's just in your own head - but you just don't really feel a part of it."

She wasn't sure the public would embrace her new product, but she insists the flavours - Tonic Water, Sparkling Grapefruit, Meyer Lemon Club Soda, Sparkling Lemon Lime, and Ginger Beer - are great with or without alcohol.

"When we first started talking about this company, one of the conversations that came up was like, 'Are we going to be pushing a boulder up a hill because you don't drink and mixers are made to mix with alcohol? I mean, that's the name of them. So are you going to have credibility in this space as somebody who doesn't drink?' "

"And I was like, 'Yeah, because I feel like I'm somebody who really likes flavor,' that's it for me."

Betty Buzz, the name of which is inspired by the moniker of her youngest daughter with movie star Ryan Reynolds, is currently offered in 12-packs for $29.99 (£22) online and at select retailers across the U.S.

It's not the only drinks venture in their household. Reynolds founded his own liquor line, Aviation Gin, but Blake noted she's the go-to bartender at their get togethers.

And she has a tip for those who like the taste of alcohol but don't want to get drunk - add a drop or two of liquor to the mixer.

"It gives it a flavor, but it's not going to give it a sort of experience - well, it'll give it a flavor experience - but not (much) alcohol," she added, noting that she doesn't advise this approach for anyone who's a recovering alcoholic.

When she announced the line, the mum-of-three explained, "I don't drink. I know that's odd coming from the wife of an infamous gin slinger. Over the past many years of mixing but not drinking cocktails, it became clear mixers are the unsung heroes of the drink world and deserve just as much love as alcohol."
