The 'Slow Dancing in a Burning Room 'crooner insists that he's 'not upset' after revealing that he has been getting so many hateful messages ahead of 'Speak Now (Taylor's Version)' release.

AceShowbiz - John Mayer has responded to a Taylor Swift fan's hateful message. The "Slow Dancing in a Burning Room" singer slammed his haters after he received death wishes ahead of "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)" release.

The "New Light" hitmaker received a message from an Instagram user named @hoeforlouaylor after Taylor dropped "Red (Taylor's Version)" on Friday, November 12. "F**k yourself you ugly b***h I hope you choke on something," the user's message, shared on Sunday, November 14, read. The user also sent a heart before adding, "Answer me you b***h."

John, who continues to get heat from Swifties for his brief relationship with the "Back to December" songstress between 2009 and 2010, replied with a question. "I've been getting so many messages like these the past couple days," the 44-year-old singer/songwriter wrote back. "I'm not upset, I just tend to have a curious mind and feel compelled to ask. Do you really hope that I die?"

After John replied to the message, the fan explained her side of the story via a DM voice message. "My friend literally dared me to do that," she said in the recording, apologizing to the "You're Gonna Live Forever in Me" singer. "She's a Taylor fan and like so am I. It was a dare. I'm sorry. I did not expect you to see."

John went on to ask, "So it's a fun thing people are doing without taking into account that I might see it and be affected by it?" The Connecticut native then sarcastically said, "It's 100 percent OK. Go forth and live happy and healthy!"

John and Taylor dated for about a year back in 2009-2010 when he was 32 years old and she was just 19 years old. As Taylor is currently preparing to re-release "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)", which includes their breakup song "Dear John", the "Your Body Is a Wonderland" singer is expected to get a bunch of similar messages in the coming weeks.

This on the heels of her record breaking release of "Red (Taylor's Version)" which included a heart-wrenching short film inspired by the extended version of her beloved hit "All Too Well", which is supposedly about Jake Gyllenhaal. The movie, directed by the 11-time Grammy winner, starred "Stranger Things" star Sadie Sink and "The Maze Runner" actor Dylan O'Brien, who portray her and who many assume to be her ex Jake.
