The 'Princess Bride' actress has been brought in to play the lead character in the upcoming limited series for Apple after the 'Pretty Woman' star, who was originally cast for the main role, quit the project.

AceShowbiz - Jennifer Garner has stepped in to replace Julia Roberts in limited Apple series "The Last Thing He Told Me".

The Oscar winner had to depart the project due to scheduling conflicts and Garner will take over the lead role in the drama, based on Laura Dave's novel, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Garner will also serve as an executive producer of the show, which comes from Reese Witherspoon's Hello Sunshine and Disney's 20th Television.

In the series, the actress will play a woman who forms an alliance with her teenage stepdaughter in an effort find her missing husband.

Dave is adapting the book for Apple.

Julia Roberts' most recent TV vehicle is Amazon Prime's physiological thriller "Homecoming". It premiered in 2018 and launched the second season in 2020.

Meanwhile, on the big screen, the actress will soon star in romcom "Ticket to Paradise" where she shares screen with George Clooney. It's her first feature film since 2018's drama "Ben Is Back".

As for Jennifer Garner, she released comedy drama "Yes Day" earlier this year, sharing screen with Edgar Ramirez and Jenna Ortega. She will next star in new sci-fier "The Adam Project" along with Ryan Reynolds, Zoe Saldana, Mark Ruffalo and more.

On TV, Garner featured on miniseries "Home Movie: The Princess Bride" and TV special "Make It Work!" in 2020.
