The 'Barefoot Blue Jean Night' crooner is mourning the death of his beloved German Shepherd after the furry animal passed away following an emergency surgery.

AceShowbiz - Jake Owen has been left devastated after his dog Slash died before he could even say goodbye.
The country singer shared a snap of the German Shepherd alongside another dog on his Instagram page, and told his fans, "I lost one of my best friends last night unexpectedly.. the drs said his stomach had 'flipped' and even with emergency surgery, it wasn't enough to save him…I didn't even make it home in time to say goodbye."
Calling Slash the "sweetest, most loving dog" he's ever had, Jake added that he was "more like a human than a dog" and always stayed close by him while his other dogs would "run free across the farm."
"Losing a dog is like losing a family member," he continued. "It was hard for me to even put this post together and share. Go love on your family. Go love on your dogs. See ya up there in Slashy. Love ya buddy."
Jon Pardi, Chuck Wicks, and Chris Lane were among the stars offering Jake their support and condolences following his devastating news.
"Sorry bud! That's a tough one," Pardi wrote. Wicks also left a similar comment, "So sorry buddy.. they're for sure family members [sad face]."
Just two months ago, Jake Owen took his two-year-old daughter to hospital due to a mystery ailment.
"Our little sweet Paris is TWO years old today. Never imagined spending her bday in the hospital," he wrote on Instagram.
The little girl has since returned home with mom and dad.
Paris is his only child with fiancee Erica Hartlein. He's also a dad to eight-year-old daughter Olive Pearl from his first marriage to Lacey Buchanan. They split in 2015 after three years of marriage.
Jake popped the big question to Erica in 2020 during the holiday.
