AceShowbiz - Dwyane Wade could not help but get emotional while visiting the Surfside Condo Memorial site in Florida. When paying his respects to the victims, the former NBA star was seen trying to fight back tears as he covered his face with his hand.
During the Thursday, July 8 visit, the 39-year-old former professional basketball player left a heartfelt message of his own on one of a series of hearts set up for people to honor the lives lost. "Sending prayer, love, strength and healing," he penned, before adding "Miami Heat" underneath his signature.
Dwyane also delivered an inspiring speech to the South Florida Urban Search and Rescue team and thanked them for their service. He documented the moment via Instagram by noting, "#SurfSideStrong. Today was about Uplifting, Praising and Showing up! Our first responders are the real MVPs. #wadecounty."
Dwynane was not the only athlete who showed his support in the wake of the June 24 incident. Just hours after the 12-story condo building partially collapsed, current Miami Heat guard Tyler Herro rushed to the scene along with his assistant coaches Chris Quinn and Eric Glasswater to hand out water bottles and other supplies.
Celebrities who also offered their helping hands were Miami Dolphins players Jaylen Waddle and Jerome Baker, as well as singer Joe Jonas. In a picture surfacing online, the one-third of Jonas Brothers could be seen bringing boxes of pizza at the Surfside Community Center.
"Joe arrived with a friend. I don't know how long he [stayed] but more [than] half an hour. He was very low profile," a source told E! News about his visit. "The families were very upset about their [loved] ones. He went to the room where the volunteers were."
As of Thursday, the death toll reached 64 confirmed victims. 76 others, meanwhile, are still unaccounted for and considered missing.
