Along with the release of their 'Butter' CD, the international K-pop sensation debuts their new track to celebrate ARMY Day and welcome new days post-pandemic.

AceShowbiz - BTS (Bangtan Boys) makes this summer hotter than ever with their new song. Titled "Permission to Dance", the fresh track was dropped on Friday, July 9 (KST) along with the release of the CD version of their hit single "Butter".

The new song, which was co-written by Ed Sheeran, Steve Mac, Johnny McDain and Jenna Andrews, is an upbeat track with piano and string sounds. True to the title, the energetic track expresses that "we don't need permission to dance."

"We don't need to worry/ 'Cause when we fall, we know how to land," the band sings in the chorus. "Don't need to talk the talk, just walk the walk tonight/ Cause we don't need permission to dance."

The music video, meanwhile, sees the seven-piece group heating up the desert with their dance moves. The scenes are intercepted with other people dancing at different places, in the office, on the street, on a basketball field and even a school, before a bunch of backing dancers join the members on the desert.

In the clip, RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook are dressed as cowboys. Purple balloons, a color associated with BTS and their fanbase known as ARMY, appear in various scenes. The video was released to celebrate ARMY Day, which takes place on July 9, and imagines life post-COVID-19 pandemic as people are seen taking off their masks at the end of it.

A teaser video released on Tuesday featured a newspaper bearing the headline, "2022 The Beginning of a New Era Goodbye COVID-19."

"Permission to Dance" marks BTS' second collaboration with Ed Sheeran. The British singer/songwriter previously co-wrote the group's "Make It Right", which was released digitally on April 12, 2019, as part of the extended play "Map of the Soul: Persona".

BTS is currently topping the Billboard Hot 100 chart with their single "Butter". Released in May, it has set a new record for the South Korean boyband as their longest No. 1 song on the chart with six consecutive weeks.
