Revealing that he has 'reconnected in a real way' with his former 'Fast and Furious' co-star, the Roman Pearce depicter jokes that they are in 'competition right now on who can leave the longest voice note.'

AceShowbiz - Tyrese Gibson has given an update on his friendship with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Having reconnected with his former "Fast and Furious" co-star after a years-long feud, the Roman Pearce depicter in the action film series believes that they become "better man" now.

When speaking to Tiffany Haddish in the Monday, June 28 episode of "The Ellen DeGeneres Show", the 42-year-old actor jokingly assured that he and his ex-rival are no longer "yelling at each other." He added, "We've been on the phone every other day. We reconnected in a real way. I think we're both better men on the other side of all that stuff that went down."

"To be honest, I didn't know how the phone call would happen. But it did happen and we're about 20 phone calls in," the singer/rapper continued. "We're in a competition right now on who can leave the longest voice note."

Tyrese and The Rock's friendship fell out in 2017. At that time, the former blamed the retired professional wrestler for delaying "F9" after he signed on to make franchise spin-off "Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw" with Jason Statham.

"I just got a problem with Dwayne. It appears that he's being selfish. It appears that he's so focused on furthering his own self-interests," Tyrese told TMZ about their beef. "He's making decisions from the seat that he's sitting in."

In December 2020, Tyrese declared that he and The Rock have "peaced up." When appearing on Comedy Central's "Stir Crazy with Josh Horowitz", he said, "We talked for, like, four hours about three weeks ago." Despite the reunion, Tyrese claimed he won't follow The Rock's footsteps by having his own "Fast and Furious" film.

"What's interesting about 'The Fast and The Furious' is it's not about any of us individually. We're like the UN at this point," he gushed. "Everyone gets to go to the theater and say, 'He and she looks like me.' If I did it with [Ludacris' Tej], then who are we going to play off of? I could not just make it about me. I just could not."
