AceShowbiz - Nick Carter has finally unveiled his baby's name. One month after welcoming his third child with wife Lauren Kitt, the Backstreet Boys member divulged that they named the newborn Pearl and shared the inspiration behind the moniker.
The 41-year-old singer made the revelation when speaking to Us Weekly. "Funny enough, that was the name Lauren wanted to give to [our eldest daughter], Saoirse," he first told the outlet. "Essentially, we kind of gave up on the name, but Lauren really liked Pearl."
Nick went on, "Then we discovered that we were going to have another baby. That's when I was like, 'Listen, let's go with what you wanted.' So she became Pearl." His wife then joked that they chose the single-syllable name because they "needed something easier to say than Saoirse."
The "I Want It That Way" hitmaker made public Pearl's arrival on April 22. Making use of Twitter, he declared, "We are proud to announce that our baby has officially arrived. But as a parent knows all to very well, sometimes things don't turn out the way you plan it. We have been experiencing some minor complications but things are looking a little better after the first night."
Nick and Lauren went home with the baby nearly one week later along with their 5-year-old son Otis and 19-month-old daughter Saoirse. Sharing the news with his fans on Twitter, he penned, "Ok everyone, I wanted to let you know that finally, we are home safe and sound. Baby is doing so much better. I'm going to share a little picture with you really soon. Thank you again for all your love."
The married couple confirmed their third pregnancy in January. "I was fully set on just having two children and I had prepared for that and made arrangements for that. We were going to have two children and it was a surprise. I didn't find out I was pregnant till I was about five-and-a-half months pregnant. I didn't have any symptoms, I didn't have anything indicating that I was pregnant," the then-expectant mom told PEOPLE at that time.
