AceShowbiz - Karl-Anthony Towns wants people to take the Coronavirus pandemic very seriously, especially after his mother is now in a medically induced coma due to what he believes is COVID-19. The Minnesota Timberwolves player shared a YouTube video on Wednesday, March 25 to give details about his mother's symptoms.
According to him, both of his parents were not feeling well last week, prompting him to tell them to go to hospital immediately and seek help. His sister, in particular, stressed that they needed to get a Coronavirus test. His father was eventually released into quarantine at his home, while his mother's conditions kept deteriorating.
"I don't think anyone really understood what it was, with deteriorating conditions. She kept getting worse, she kept getting worse, and the hospital was doing everything they can," Karl said in the video. "We always thought the next medicine would help. The next one would help. This is the one that's going to get it done. This one will make sure to get it done."
One day, he said, his mother started to feel great before her conditions took a turn for the worse. "They said that she went sideways and things had went sideways quick. And her lungs were extremely getting worse, and she was having trouble breathing and they were just explaining to me that she had to be put on a ventilator," he continued explaining, getting more emotional. "And she was getting worse, and she was confused by everything, and I'm trying to talk to her about everything and encourage and stay positive, just talk through everything with her."
His mother was eventually placed in a medically induced coma, but Karl assured that he and his family are still keeping positive in the trying times. To conclude the video, Karl urged his viewers to take Coronavirus pandemic very seriously and practice social distancing.
"This disease needs to not be taken lightly. Please protect your families, your loved ones, your friends, yourself. Practice social distancing. Please don't be in places with a lot of people; it just heightens your chances of getting this disease, and this disease ... it's deadly. It's deadly," he said. "And we're going to keep fighting on my side, me and my family, we're going to keep fighting this. We're going to beat it; we're going to win."
