Weeks after sparking speculations that she is expecting her first child and confirming it days later, the "Flesh Without Blood" singer offered an update on her journey to motherhood as she admitted to feeling "woefully ill prepared."

On Friday, January 31, the 31-year-old turned to Instagram to share with her followers how she feels about this pregnancy. "how do y'all cope with working and having a baby?? I'm sorry I haven't been promoting my album properly or on social media more," she began her lengthy message. "This whole thing has been a bit of an ordeal."

"Had some complications early on, a decent second trimester but starting to hurt everywhere at 25 wksz. What were yalls experience w this stuff like? I feel like I was woefully ill prepared cuz I dunno if pregnancy is as visible or discussed as it should be," the Canadian singer went on explaining. "I just didn't rly understand what I was getting into."

"It's been good too, but it makes working a lot harder," the mother-to-be continued. "Good at writing and having lots of wild ideas tho, but anything physical is hard. Im also way more emo and less capable of bravery in the face of haters online and stuff haha. But my albums out in a sec so I prob need to get back on here. Don't mind my emo energy, but curious what other ppls experience was like."

Grimes fueled pregnancy buzz in early January. Testing Instagram censors, she uploaded an arty topless photo of herself displaying her growing belly. When a fan applauded her decision not to censor her nipples, she replied by pointing out that "being knocked up is a very feral & war-like state of being."

The "Genesis" singer has yet to confirm who the father of her baby is, but many believe Tesla co-founder Elon Musk is the one. The pair have been dating since 2018, and have gone public with their romance in May the same year when they hit the red carpet together at the Met Gala in New York.
