AceShowbiz - Bill Cosby has lost his appeal against an aggravated indecent assault conviction.
The comedian, 82, was jailed in 2018 after he was found guilty of drugging and raping Temple University staff member Andrea Constand and now an appeals panel has upheld the verdict, shooting down the defence team's claims that the Pennsylvania judge overseeing the case should not have allowed five women to take the stand, and testify about being abused by Cosby, in a bid to prove he was a serial sexual predator.
The unanimous Superior Court ruling on Tuesday, December 10 upholds Cosby's conviction on three counts of aggravated indecent assault.
The disgraced former "The Cosby Show" star is currently serving out a three-to-10-year sentence.
Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin Steele has applauded the appeals court decision, stating, "It is my hope that with this last guaranteed step in the criminal justice process now complete, the victim in this case, Andrea Constand, can finally put this assault behind her and move on with her life as the strong survivor she is."
"Her bravery in coming forward when she did to report a sexual assault by a powerful, famous man led to the subsequent exposure of him as a serial predator and served as an example to other women, giving them the needed courage to step up and stand up against sexual assault. The world is forever changed because of Andrea’s bravery. With this decision, it has been affirmed that no one is above the law."
