The 'Body Like a Back Road' hitmaker has been booked for driving under the influence in Nashville, Tennessee after being pulled over for going in the wrong direction and swerving in and out of his lane.

AceShowbiz - Country star Sam Hunt is facing driving under the influence (DUI) charges following an arrest in Nashville, Tennessee in the early hours of Thursday, November 21.

The "Body Like a Back Road" hitmaker was pulled over by a police officer after his car was seen going in the wrong direction on Ellington Parkway in East Nashville, where he had allegedly been swerving in and out of his lane.

According to local news station WKRN-TV, Hunt was said to have had bloodshot eyes during the traffic stop, during which the cop claimed to have noticed the smell of alcohol emanating from the singer as he attempted to hand over his credit card instead of his driver's licence.

He is said to have confessed to drinking booze "recently", and a breathalyser test showed his blood alcohol level to be more than double the state's legal limit of 0.08.

The 34-year-old was subsequently taken into custody and booked for DUI, as well as having an open container, after two empty beer cans were reportedly spotted beside the driver's seat.

Hunt was subsequently released on $2,500 (£1,900) bond and has been ordered to appear before a judge on January 17, 2020.
