Eileen O'Riordan calls the band's Best Rock Album nod 'bittersweet,' whereas surviving members Noel Hogan and Fergal Lawler express their surprise and delight over the honor.

AceShowbiz - The Cranberries' first Grammy Award nomination for their final album with late singer Dolores O'Riordan is "bittersweet", according to the star's mother.
Eileen O'Riordan gave her blessing for Dolores' bandmates to release "In The End", the project they had been recording prior to the musician's unexpected death in early 2018, aged 46.
It hit music retailers in April (2019), and on Wednesday, November 20, picked up a nomination for Best Rock Album.
The recognition by officials at the Recording Academy marked the group's first ever Grammy nod, and Eileen has been left with mixed feelings over the news.
"Dolores would be so happy with this, she put her heart and soul into her songs and music," Eileen shares in a statement.
"For us as her family it's kind of bittersweet, we're immensely proud yet saddened that she isn't here to witness and enjoy this, although I feel that she is in spirit."
Meanwhile, the surviving members of The Cranberries were also quick to share their thoughts about the nomination.
Guitarist Noel Hogan says, "We wanted to finish this album for our dear friend and band mate Dolores. It's a tribute to her, the band and our fans for the past 30 years. Being honoured with this Grammy nomination has made this whole process even more special."
And drummer Fergal Lawler adds, "We are extremely surprised and honoured to receive this Grammy nomination. We're sure Dolores would be delighted."
The Cranberries will go up against Bring Me The Horizon ("Amo"), Cage The Elephant ("Social Cues"), I Prevail ("Trauma"), and Rival Sons ("Feral Roots") for the Best Rock Album prize at the ceremony in Los Angeles in January (2020).
