AceShowbiz - Actor Tye Sheridan is heading to the mobile screen to front a new survival series from Steven Soderbergh.
The "X-Men: Apocalypse" star has signed on to play a self-obsessed college student, who becomes stranded in the Colorado mountains with only his dying cell phone as his only hope for survival.
Titled "Wireless", the show will be executive produced by Soderbergh for new digital platform Quibi, and is designed to be streamed on mobile phones.
Zach Wechter, who co-created the project with Jack Seidman, will direct the series, which will begin production this week, begs November 11.
"Wireless explores the personal relationship we all have with our devices, and brings life-and-death stakes to the choices we make in the digital world," Wechter shares in a statement.
Sheridan adds, "I couldn't be more excited to be a part of this project. It's a completely new way of storytelling, a format that is the first of its kind, and I truly believe that it will establish an important new language and pave the way for many more like it in the future."
