AceShowbiz - Bette Midler shows no sympathy for Lori Loughlin, who is facing multiple charges in the nationwide college admissions scandal. The 73-year-old singer/actress recently threw shade at the mother of two for a potential special treatment that she might get in the case.
"The First Wives Club" star took to her Twitter account on Sunday, November 3 to weigh in on Lori and her husband Mossimo Giannulli's decision to plead not guilty to new charges against them, suggesting that the "Fuller House" alum has nothing to worry about due to her celebrity status. "Lori Laughlin has pleaded not guilty to new college admissions charges. She must be really starting to panic that the judge might put her away for...oh, I don't know...hours!" she posted.
Agreeing with Bette, one follower replied to her tweet, "funny but true!" Another added, "Exactly. White privilege at its finest." Another slammed Lori, "Pretty white lady wins again. What gets me is that they think so little of their kids that they need to cheat them into college... that means they know their kids aren't qualified to be there. Glad they're not my mother."
Some others, however, think that Lori is facing serious jail time due to bad advice from her lawyer. "Nah, she is looking at serious time by holding out like this. If they are giving the guilty pleas weeks & months, she's looking at significantly more if she puts the Gov to the cost of a trial," one explained. "Either she is being badly advised or her arrogance is truly out of control."
Another agreed, stating, "I think she's out of touch with reality and will be going to the big house for several years along with her husband." Someone else wrote, "She got bad advice from her lawyer...she's going to do some serious time in the prison."
Lori and her husband Mossimo were indicted in April for allegedly paying $500,000 to a fake charity to get their two daughters into the University of Southern California as part of the school's crew team, even though neither of them participated in the sport. They rejected a plea deal and were hit with additional charges of money laundering and conspiracy. Most recently, they were charged with conspiracy to commit federal programs bribery, to which they also pleaded not guilty.
