AceShowbiz - Actress Rose McGowan has filed a new lawsuit against movie mogul Harvey Weinstein and his former attorneys, accusing them of conspiring to smear her name and discredit her rape allegations.

McGowan was among the first women to highlight Weinstein's sexual misconduct, claiming he raped her in 1997 at the Sundance Film Festival in Utah, and now, according to legal documents obtained by TMZ, she alleges the disgraced producer and his "representatives" are trying "to silence sexual-assault victims."

McGowan is suing Harvey and his former lawyers Lisa Bloom and David Boies, claiming they went out of their way to discredit her after learning of her plans to write memoir "Brave", in which she planned to include details about her alleged rape ordeal.

"He (Weinstein) tapped into his team of fixers," she writes, with the goal of ensuring no one would believe her by ruining her reputation.

A representative for Bloom tells TMZ, "It is inexcusable that Ms. McGowan chose to include my client in her lawsuit. Facts matter. There is simply no credible factual or legal basis for her claims against my client. We look forward to our day in court to set the record straight."

And Harvey's lawyer, Phyllis Kupferstein, states: "Once and for all, Rose McGowan will be shown to be what she is; a publicity seeker looking for money.

"From the moment she sought a multi-million dollar payout in return for not making these baseless allegations, which we rejected, we knew that she was waiting for an opportune time to begin this... We will demonstrate that this case has no legal merit."
